Finding a cache site.....

Today I went and got a haircut after work, and then my husband took me around in the Jeep looking for a good place to hide a cache. We found 6 good spots, maybe 7. Most are in cemteries and 2 are in his friend's woods. I took my GPS and wrote down the coordinates. I don't have a cache ready to place in any of them yet. I have some containers and some goodies, but I ordered some geocaching stickers yesterday and I need a small log book to go in the 1st one. This will be my very first cache I've ever hidden, and I've found almost 400. You're supposed to put stickers on the container that says "offical geocache", so if anyone who's not a cacher finds it (we call those people muggles) they will know it's a geocache and not a bomb or drugs or something dangerous. Yes....people really think those things. I also bought a Wal-Mart gift card worth $10 and I'm putting it in for a First To Find (FTF) prize. Usually the person that hides the cache puts in a nice FTF prize and that's what I did. As soon as I get my stickers and log book, I'll submit my hidden cache on the geocaching.com website. As soon as the moderaters approve it, people can look it up, get the coords, program them into their GPS's, and go find it! :) Then they sign the log book, take something out of the container (if they choose to), leave something in the container, and then log their visit on the geocaching.com website. This is gonna be fun, being a hider.....and a finder! I was gonna post a picture of my cache container and the things I'm putting in it, but my camera won't work for me today. Maybe tomorrow....

It's Spring!

Ok..I know it's another picture of a tree blooming in my yard, but they are sooo pretty! It's Springtime after all. Everything won't be blooming much longer so I'm enjoying it while I can. Spring and Autumn are my favorite seasons. I don't know what kind of tree this is, it was dug out of the woods. I've tried several different kind of beautiful trees in my yard, but the deer always eat them! I finally decided I won't be spending the big bucks for nice trees. They either eat them down to nothing or in the fall the bucks rub their antlers on them tearing them to shreds. I have several redbud trees in my yard that have NEVER bloomed thanks to them. I'm learning what kind of trees and flowers deer don't care for. They don't bother my daffodils and iris's, so I have plenty of them. They ate one of my magnolias and left one alone. Go figure...Everything bloomed out great this year because of the warm Spring and plenty of rain. One exception was my 2 apple trees, but I haven't got a good crop out of them yet. They're only a couple of years old anyway. I wish I would have taken a picture of the huge patch of bluebells blooming in the woods. They were georgous! They're dieing down along with the spring beauties and daffodils. I'll have to think of some different things to take pictures of.....hehe

Yummy Yummy Yummy!

These are considered a delicacy in Smalltown USA. Morel mushrooms!! You find them in a woods near you or a park, or maybe even in your backyard. My husband found these and cooked them up. They're soooo yummy! He found these in his friend's woods. We've only found4 in my small woods so far. Don't know what makes them grow where they do. Sometimes they come back in the same spot the next year, sometimes they don't. Some people say look around dead Elm trees. It's a big secret where people find their mushrooms. They won't tell anyone where they found them. (And I won't either) I know I should have got a picture before they were fried up, but when they were sitting on the table ready for me to dig in and eat them I couldn't resist taking a picture to make everyone jealous. Hehe! Enjoy the pic...I know I enjoyed the real things! YUMMY!

This is the Dogwood tree growing in my yard. I'm from "smalltown" USA

1st post...

Gotta try this out to see if I know what I'm doing here. I spent the day geocaching which is a hobby of mine. I found 9 caches. See: geocaching.com to see what's it's all about. No matter where you live, I'm sure there's a hidden cache near you. I'll explain it more fully when I see if I'm posting right! :)
