busy, busy, busy

I was giving another blogger a hard time because he doesn't blog much and he said he's always so busy. I told him I know the feeling, I never ever write in my own. He wanted to know where my blog is at, and I wasn't gonna tell him coz I didn't know if I was ready for the whole wide world to read my scribblings. But I e-mailed him the link. But I don't think he got it....probably went into his junk mail. :)

Anyway, I really have been busy and I'm gonna start writing some things that keep me so busy. One thing: family reunions. I took my mom to a family reunion (her side of the family) in the state next to mine. It took 3 1/2 hours to get there. It was so much fun seeing cousins I only see once a year. They're such nice people. The food was delicious...everyone brings something. I brought 2 pumpkin pies, a fruit salad, and a cooler full of bottled water. (Coz I love water) Before we ate, my cousin, LeeAnn and I were talking and I mentioned geocaching. Turns out she's a geocacher too! We hurried out to find a cache before lunch. She let me find it since she had already found it. I'm not used to caching by myself so it took a few min. to find it. It was a good hide. It was a micro (in a film canister) down in a fence post hanging on by a wire. I signed the log and we went back to eat. The ones that like to play volleyball (me) spent the rest of the afternoon playing volleyball. The grass was kinda muddy coz they had had some rain there. Oh, was that funny when someone would fall down! I usually do, but I was being extra careful that day and never fell. :) They all have a great sense of humor and it was a really great day. You know how you're with people that you love and am having so much fun, you hate the day to end? That's how it was. I hated to go, but we had over 3 hours driving (with me doing all the driving), so we finally picked everything up and headed out. I wanted to find at least one more cache around there, so we ended up in the nearby town behind a grocery store in a small woods. I found the cache after some searching, but the contents were scattered everywhere, and the container was broken. I picked everything up, signed the wet log and e-mailed the owner when I got home. An animal must have gotten into it. Everything was chewed on. But, at least I found 2 caches, AND that one had a "Travel Bug" in it. I brought it home and I've already placed it in another cache. We tried to find one more cache, but it was around a lake, and I don't have maps on my GPS for that far away, plus it was getting dark, so we headed home. Ok...that's another thing. I don't drive that often, and when I do I never go far from home. That trip there and back, I did all the driving while my mom slept most the time. It was mostly on interstates and they were very busy interstates. I was a nervous wreck trying to find the right turn-offs and trying to not get ran over by all the semis! I almost ran off the road and hit a concrete block thing. If I was a swearing person, my mom would have heard it all! Anyway, by the time I got home I was swearing up and down I would NEVER drive there on the interstate again. There's a "shortcut" to their house, but everyone says take the interstate coz it's faster. I'm not gonna do it, next time we'll just allow an extra 30 min. to take the "shortcut".

Another family reunion. I guess it's that time of year. Last week my grand-dad's family (on my dad's side) were all getting together in a nearby town. It was an all week-end thing but since I had something else to do on Sat. I only went on Sunday. First, all the family went to church together. Three family members got up and sang with their guitars (all separately). Then several in the family shared about some of the ministries they're involved with. It was all really great. It was nice to hear about my great grandmother's faith. I never knew her, but according to some in the family she had a deep faith in God. Alot, and I mean alot of my family (on both sides) are Christians. Sometimes I wonder how many generations it would go back to find the first Christian in my family. I have a feeling it would be a longggg way back. After the church service we went to my cousin's house and had another big meal. This reunion wasn't as fun as the other one, but it was nice to see people I rarely see. It was so hot that day, I didn't stay very long, but at least I only had 25 min. of driving to get home.

Hopefully I'll get to write more on my busy days. :)

God knew that I needed to read your post this morning. I got really teary-eyed and melancholy. It reminded me that one's Christian faith is all that matters in the big scheme of life.

Yesterday, I was told that my eye condition of glaucoma is progressing fairly rapidly, in spite of medication. Yes....I'm scared. But, I have an appointment with a glaucoma specialist on the 24th of this month.

Now, it's time for me to put into practice what I've been preaching for months! Whatever the outcome, living a life of faith is worth it all.

Even tho we don't really know each other, it seems like you're the only one that reads my blog....or at least comments on it. You're my sister and I'm praying for you.

Thank you Sis! After I find out what the glaucoma specialist has to say and treatment and/or surgery, I'll probably post it on my blog.

That's the funny thing about following a blog....after a time, you get to feel like you know the blogger personally.
